Happy Halloween!

The photo above is from work on Friday before Halloween. Seeing as I'm such a great worker and everyone loves me, management figured it would be a good idea if everyone acted like me for a day. Seriously though, 2 years ago I made a mask of the guy on the far left and wore it on Halloween.I guess an elephant, err- coworker never forgets.

I hope everyone had a good Halloween! Mine was really busy. Between the Jon Stewart rally, getting around the crowded city, and finishing my costume, I barely had anytime to relax. For my costume this year, I decided to go all out. I've had good ones in the past. Who can forget Tyrone Biggums (Chappelle Show) and Marty McFly (Back to the Future)??

Anyway, like I said, I wanted to go all out this year. The type of costume that when you walk in the the room people stop and say "no way he did that". There was always one option: Optimus Prime. With the transformers in town a few weeks back it was an easy choice. I won't bore you with the details of how I made him, unless someone actually wants them. Here are some photos:

So, looking back, I really wish I had worn some white pants instead of jeans and maybe added a decal or two. But I was really amazed at how it came out. I'd like to thank my parents for sending me to architecture school for 6 years where I learned how to cut cardboard and use a t-square. Without that knowledge, Optimus may have never been born.

Sadly there are no photos of me out. I just couldn't bring myself to potentially ruin Optimus on the streets of Adams Morgan. Just too much time was spent. Also, the costume was ridiculously hot. I was in an apartment with 3 other people and I couldn't stop sweating. I know, attractive. No way I'd make it in a crowded bar. I ended up wearing a Mr T mask out to the party *photos not available*

I'm looking to clear some space in my apartment for a permanent display area. He's a part of the family now :)

Bumblebee Injured at Transformers Filming

Filming in DC has started this week for Transformers 3, and there has already been a serious injury. Bumblebee was hurt yesterday during a chase scene on 3rd St. A police SUV responding to an actual emergency ran through a stop light and hit Bumblebee as he made a left turn in an intersection to join the chase. No one was seriously injured.

The funniest thing about this accident is that everyone is refering to Bumblebee as if he's a real person. All of the news reports have him listed as a character and a lot of them don't even mention the driver. When you look at the photos of the crash its kinda of sad. Afterwards a sheet was placed over him and he looked like a real accident victim. Poor little guy :(

In related news, the Transformers cars are actually staying next door to where I work! So even though I've got 2 deadlines this week and I'm gonna have to work late tonight, I went out to take a look. Even though they were just normal cars and the only thing that made them transformers was the emblem it was so cool.

Transformers 3 Comes to DC

Looks like Michael Bay and Co. will be gracing DC for the filming of Transformers 3 (sadly no megan fox). Last night I came across an open casting call notice (see below). It sounds like it would be fun, but would most likely end up being hours of work and then I wouldn't even be in the movie. That being said, you know I'm gonna apply! Below are some images that you may see in the near future. I'm talking to you Michael Bay.

Samba Loco

The Adidas Samba

I bought another pair this weekend. For those keeping score at home, that brings my total to 3. And by 3, I mean I have 3 that I currently wear. It's and obsession. They are just so simple and timeless, I think I could buy another 3 pairs. My latest pair is shown above. This will be my first foray into the world of the none standard (black or white) samba. We'll see how it turns out.

After making the buy, I was a bit curious about the history of the shoe.

"The shoe was first produced in 1950 to enable association football players to train on icy hard ground (hence the suction on the gumsole). Its original design featured the classic three stripes, as well as the gold trefoil on the foldable tongue. As years progressed, the Samba evolved into the Samba Millennium (which was made without the extended tongue) and the Samba '85. Classic models of the shoe are still in production, under the name Classic M. While the original model is sometimes used for training, street play, and futsal, it is more popularly worn as a casual wear shoe."

In pop culture, Bill Cosby can often be seen sporting a black pair on the Cosby Show, Ashton Kutcher wore them in That 70's Show and Shia Labeouf wore a pair in Transformers 2. Transformers, 70's and Cosby. Not too bad for a days work.

Whenever one of my pairs starts to wear out, it always starts in the same spot; on the inside of my right foot a heart shape appears. always the same spot. Always the same shape. Many have speculated that its due to the way I walk or the way I kick the ball, but I think we all know the true reason. It's the only way my shoes can convey the mutual love that we have for each other.
