So the story behind this one. I got up this morning kinda early so I had a lot of extra time. Most of my photos have been at night lately so I decided to snap a few shots before heading off to work. That's pretty much it. Setup was fairly easy since the room was already semi clean, so I wasn't too late for work.

New Obsession: The 52 Project
It's been a few months since the fixed gear project has ended and I'm getting antsy. I need another goal to work towards like getting an architecture license a fun project. After scouring the internet for hours at work yesterday I settled on a 52 project. One self portrait a week for a year.
A few years ago I tried a 365 project(1 photo a day) and failed miserably. I got about 4 photos in and the all sucked. After a week I got tired of getting the camera out everyday and resorted to taking pictures of my feet with a camera phone. Ugh. I think one a week will still push me to grow, but without the pressure of having to setup a shot every single day.
So onto the first photo. I'm calling this one Superstar. I took it after my rec league soccer game last night. I love playing in these local leagues, but the one part that i don't like is the fact that you really can't tell anyone about the game. Sure you've played you heart out in the game, but it sounds kinda lame to come into work the next day and say "hey we beat the red team last night. It was epic". So last night was my chance to be the superstar.
After taking a second look this morning, I'm noticing a few things. I guess I could have actually removed the camera lenses and maybe cleaned my apartment a little. Meh, I've got 52.... er, 51 weeks to get it right.

The Tale of the Ironic Mustache

After about 2.5 weeks of not shaving, I'm proud to say that I finally grew a beard. It's not like I was Grizzly Adams or anything, but it was mine and it was cool. Anyway, it was itchy and of the patchy, Sidney Crosby variety, so it was time to shave it. Before I finished shaving I thought it would be fun to see what I looked like with a mustache. It didn't look half bad. It wasn't serious or anything, but it had a certain 70's cop/porn star look about it. I left it to see what my friends/coworkers would think.
Before I get too far, I'd just like to point out that I'm not opposed to mustaches. It's that few people can sport them and still look respectable. Like the people below.
So if you're not Tom Sellek or my dad, please be careful with that facial hair...
So anyway, back to me. Not that I'm a rah rah, look at me type of person, but I was at least expecting people to notice it and/or have a good laugh about it. When I walked in, I got nothing. No comments, no laughs, nothing. Just weird looks. I felt people looked at me and thought "sh*t, does he really have a mustache? That looks horrible. I hope he's not serious. You know what, I'm just gonna give him a weird look and not say anything about it. Yep... situation avoided"
Even one of my good friends (Prudence Bonds, thats right I called you out!) in the office didn't notice it. I had to tell her that the thing different about me was the mustache. She then asked if I grew it over night (like that's even possible. I'm not Indian). She also completely missed the fact that I had a beard previously... sigh...
For the record, I'm clean shaven today.

Happy Halloween!
I hope everyone had a good Halloween! Mine was really busy. Between the Jon Stewart rally, getting around the crowded city, and finishing my costume, I barely had anytime to relax. For my costume this year, I decided to go all out. I've had good ones in the past. Who can forget Tyrone Biggums (Chappelle Show) and Marty McFly (Back to the Future)??

Anyway, like I said, I wanted to go all out this year. The type of costume that when you walk in the the room people stop and say "no way he did that". There was always one option: Optimus Prime. With the transformers in town a few weeks back it was an easy choice. I won't bore you with the details of how I made him, unless someone actually wants them. Here are some photos:

So, looking back, I really wish I had worn some white pants instead of jeans and maybe added a decal or two. But I was really amazed at how it came out. I'd like to thank my parents for sending me to architecture school for 6 years where I learned how to cut cardboard and use a t-square. Without that knowledge, Optimus may have never been born.
Sadly there are no photos of me out. I just couldn't bring myself to potentially ruin Optimus on the streets of Adams Morgan. Just too much time was spent. Also, the costume was ridiculously hot. I was in an apartment with 3 other people and I couldn't stop sweating. I know, attractive. No way I'd make it in a crowded bar. I ended up wearing a Mr T mask out to the party *photos not available*
I'm looking to clear some space in my apartment for a permanent display area. He's a part of the family now :)

BBC Got It Right
A few posts back, I suggested that there be a show called "Luther". Our good friends at the BBC agreed. This spring they premiered a show called "Luther". It's loosely based on my life. Instead of an American architect, he's an English detective. He basically kicks a lot of ass, solves the case, catches the bad guys and get the girl. Just like me. I must point out that there's a scene in the video below where he's mad a white woman, and she wants him to drop he off a bridge. That didn't really happen. Just tying to be clear.Anyway, check it out for yourself:
The character that portrays me, err... I mean Luther was actually on the American version The Office. I had no idea that he was English. Am I the only one who finds it a bit annoying that the Brits are so good at doing the American accent? And why is it so hard for us to do a British accent? I dunno, just my thoughts.
Emporer's New Clothes
Quick! On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown how angry are you that I got this jacket and didn't?Ok so maybe you (and chris brown) aren't that angry, but this is my new coat courtesy of H&M. I saw a similar one last winter and didn't get it. I had to get it this time. Thanks, I like it too.
On a bit of a tangent, how annoying is H&M's website? I mean, really, have you tied to find something specific on it? Its ridiculously frustrating. To start off, they don't sell online, so checking the website is only useful if you want to see what they have. I can never find a section where you can just look at inventory. It's always random catalog images of hipsters and their clothes. No thanks. I don't want a shiny purple windbreaker.
Today I was tryng to send my sister an image of the jacket from the site, and miraculously I found one. So I send her the link and then check it out for myself. There was some dude standing there in his underwear. C'mon man. I work in an open office. Everyone can see my screen. I'm not sure if anyone did, but it was still really embarrassing.
Not that there's anything wrong with looking people in there underwear, but I'd rather not do it when my boss is at my desk.I clicked on an article of clothing as quick as I could just to change the picture. It wasn't any better. It was the same dude, and this time he was wearing a coat and his underwear. Sigh...
Damn you website. Maybe Chris Brown was so mad because he was tying to use H&M's website.

Not Talkin bout my Generation anymore

Sorry for the double TV show cancellation posts, but here we go. This fall ABC premiered a show called "My Generation" which was about 9 kids that graduated high school 10 years ago (Class of 2000 woohoo!!) and what their lives have been like since then. They covered a lot of the high school stereotypes. So there was the nerd, jock, beauty queen (who wasn't that hot ironically enough), etc. It was shot in a fake documentary format like The Office or Modern Family. After the first 2 episodes got poor ratings the show was canceled effective immediately.
I'm dissapointed that it was canceled for 2 reasons. First of all, its always nice to see something different on tv. This wasn't just a medical or cop drama that seems to be mass produced now. I think Law & Order: Cleveland is coming out next summer.
Second of all, I kind of related to the characters on the show. Growing up, I always thought it was cool being in "the class of 2000". Now they're making a show about it. What could be better? I also feel like the characters were based on me. I was totally the nerdy, over achieving jock that got pregnant on prom night right after being named prom king. I mean seriously, they should have just called the show "Luther" and it would probably still be on. Maybe it could be like and Eddie Murray deal where I play all the characters too. Hmm... this has potential.
